Current Research
Laxmi R. Prasad is a post-doctoral research associate at the Watershed Engineering and Management Laboratory of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His primary area of research is Cold Region Hydrology and Water Quality, with particular emphasis on agricultural management practice’s impact on the water cycle and pollutant transport. He is also interested in the thermodynamics of frozen soil, and freeze-thaw cycle impacts on soil health, nutrient transformation, and transportation.
Laxmi has carried out field-based, analytical, and controlled environment research on the role of tillage, residue, and manure management effects on nitrogen and phosphorus transport from agricultural landscapes.
Prasad’s academic background includes a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Acharya N G Ranga Agriculture University, India, a M.Sc. in Land and Water Resources Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, and a Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering with a minor in Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
